Lotus Root is an edible rhizome of the Lotus plant. It is crunchy and sweet in flavour, although mature roots can be bitter. Lotus Root is popularly known as Kamal Kakadi or Bhe in India. This rhizome of the lotus plant is used in gravies and the stems are chopped and added to make a sweet dish called "Kamal ka meetha".
